Former Boko Haram members told University of Cambridge researcher Antonia Juelich that fighters used chatbots including ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok and DeepSeek for guidance on improvised explosives, weapons repair and modifying motorcycles to jump a defensive trench, according to her study as reported by The New York Times. They said experienced members often bypassed safeguards, for example by claiming requests were for a film.
