A male model alleged on the 17th that fashion brand Life8 sold clothes on its website using an AI-generated model with his pre-surgery eye shape, right-side neck tattoo and habitual poses. Life8 said the images were generated from prompts, not based on any specific person, then stopped using them, apologised, and said it would discuss portrait rights and licensing with him.
Thai cyber police arrested a 26-year-old in Phuket who, they say, taught himself hacking with AI chatbots while hiding near the Myanmar border, failed to erase his records from the Royal Thai Police database, then faked payments on game top-up site Firstup.in.th, which reported losses over 200,000 baht. Already wanted on five warrants, he faces charges including unauthorised computer access.
The Boone County Sheriff's Office says a person got a call on 17 July, showing their daughter's number, from what was later determined to be an AI-generated voice sounding like the daughter claiming she had been kidnapped at gunpoint; a second person demanded ransom. Officers found the daughter fine in Jefferson City. No suspects have been identified or arrested.
