Miasma worm plants AI-agent-triggered payloads in 73 Microsoft repos

Who did it: HUMAN TNW

GitHub disabled 73 repositories across four Microsoft organisations after the self-replicating Miasma worm planted a credential-stealing payload wired to run automatically through Claude Code, Gemini CLI, Cursor, VS Code and the npm test script. Opening a cloned repo in an AI coding agent is enough; the worm then uses stolen tokens to commit itself to other repositories the victim can write to.
